Hi I'm Deirdre, wife to David and mum to Finn and Seán. Drawing horses and photography are my passions.
My speciality is natural photos of natural people. I have moved with the times and know that people today want "pure," quality and natural "unfussy" images.
Wedding couples also want their images to reflect the real story of their day. This story is told in all the moments I promise to catch that no-one else will.
Wedding Day:
Put simply I see my style as being a lot of fun and naturally being in the right place at the right time, it is instinctive for me to be there unobtrusively yet in the thick of it and not to miss a trick! I know when to step forward and when to step back.
On your wedding day I go out of my way to capture the emotion and magic of the day as it unfolds. You and your guests at your best. I promise to catch it all as speedily and as unobtrusively as possible, as each moment happens. I will also take any formal and group shots that you request, as these shots are often wanted by the rest of your family, but they will be relaxed and should not interfere with the flow of the day.
In addition I endeavour to catch images of all those important details; your dress, your flowers, cake, table settings, favours, anything really that catches my eye! So that no special part of your day goes unrecorded. A small amount of time away from the crowd is always good for some easy but stunning shots of you two together, it also gives you a little breathing space in a very hectic day that simply whizzes past!
I am often asked " but how long will the photos take?" all I can answer is that I shoot all the time I'm there, but as regards taking you away from enjoying your day this never really happens, the photography is very much part of the day and is to be enjoyed too!
Any shots requested that may take a little setting up, be they groups or some shots of you two should never eat into the day and will happen as part of the day. I guarantee your meal will not be delayed nor will your guests wonder where you've disappeared to!
My biggest compliment is how often guests assume that I must also be a guest and that the couple are simply very lucky to have a professional wedding photographer as a friend! I consider the couple their families and all the guests as equally important and that I wouldn't want a single one feeling that their day had been adversely affected either due to the length of time the couple/family were away for photos or that the photographer was so bossy and obtrusive that folk were afraid to relax and approach the main players! I have attended weddings myself as a guest and I have heard back stories to this effect.
Families and Children:
For family, children and baby images the same applies. If I come to your home or a chosen location, I simply won't do a mottled background with uncomfortable smiles and a traditional pose. I provide a relaxed environment with plenty of easy smiles and laughter and real quality images that you will hold dear for a lifetime.

Deirdre photographed a friend's wedding and we thought she was just fantastic on their day, really relaxed.
When we saw their photos we knew she'd be great. We had a brilliant day with Deirdre. She put everyone at ease so nobody felt self conscious about being photographed and she took lots of great natural shots. She also stayed far longer than we expected, which we really appreciated.

Well, what can I say? Absolutely brilliant. We've had a great time looking at all the photos - honestly, it's like living it all over again. And what a laugh, can't help smiling when you look at some of those photos! You've caught the atmosphere just right. We are trying to put together the central pack of 40 and it's really funny - we both keep going for the funny ones. That means of course, that I'm laughing like a horse and Nick's got a double chin, but somehow vanity gets the elbow. Within reason of course!
And I do really like the idea of uploading them online so that people can order what they want, because there are so many brilliant ones that I just know people will want. How do you want to do that, should I just send a cheque?

You photographed our wedding back in June 2003 - wonderfully! We were married at Glasgow Registry at Park Circus on the Friday (in the worst rain ever), then had our "big do" on the Sunday at House for an Art Lover.
